In St Francis of Assisi Anglican Church, we believe in a spirituality which is heartfelt, meaningful, and true to the Word of God and our roots in the English Reformation.
Some aspects of worship include symbolic elements which can incorporate dignity and beauty. The roles of crucifer and server exactly demonstrate this. Usually whoever does the crucifer role tends to do the server's role as well for that week.
We would like to invite all those who are interested and curious about this area of service to make yourself available on the morning of Sunday, August 20th, 2023 at 10:00 a.m., prior to service.
What does it mean to be a Crucifer / Server?
Crucifer: someone who carries the cross at the start of service and at the end of service. It is a way of rallying the people of God together.
Requirement: anyone from a child (7 years) and upwards is able to do it. Trainees just need to be able to carry the cross upright, know where to place the cross, and how to reverence the altar.
Server: someone who helps the ordained deacon with the logistics involving the elements. The person may also be involved in Altar Guild preparations which would mean being able to arrange the consecrated items mid-week.
Requirement: some training required in terms of when to present oneself and when to be at the altar area.
